hey, i think you never got the point about the soul of the movie, it struck a chord with the youngsters, the film rips our education system, and its surrounding flawed structure.

And you say the film is about "it is about chasing your dreams and chasing those dreams on your own terms"- now i dont know where you got those ideas from, and you say very few can be perfectionists and the film depicts a character that is too perfect, you sound all negative and stagnating to me. am just as opinionated as you the movie critque.

"By the way the film is about pursuit of excellence in what one does with a freedom sans oppression" thats what the film conveys and that is how we know it, here in India.

Apart from that, all your other points about the film really deserve no response. Imean c'mmon in the movie Rancho never professes to be the beacon of Honesty, these are like opinions of a prejudiced review.

Hey Madhu,
What an exquisitely narrated story.
A simple and sweet tale of a lovely morning.
Taking one excerpt out of this piece and praising it would be unfair because I loved each and every part of it. The introduction was so beautiful and I could actually visualise the beauty of the sunrise with the Suprabhatam. Wonderful!
And yes, isnt it a pleasure to be ab audience to such a lovely scene? The couple's love seemed as sweet and fine as matured wine!

At the risk of sunding repetitive, I wish I could put into words how much I am in awe of the wat you have picked up an everyday scene at te jogger's park and told it like an amazing love story..Kudos Man!

Do we get a Kawabata of Dravidian variety whose search for sadness invariably torments the beauty of living or do we get a modern day Doctor Steinbeck who picks for his ample fodder not the Illinois landscape, but the pedestrian gentry of Kolkata whose trials and tribulations are deftly forgotten in the hurry to encash his outstanding tragedy of having to live within a living. Feel a need for more kicks in the butt? Ahoy, mail me one more time........

I can't imagine anyone else in that role besides Diane Lane. While reading the book, Diane Lane had the face of Elizabeth Gilbert. Julia Roberts is not good enough, i think the movie will be a failure. Until i saw the movie trailer i was alright with that, but in the trailer, Julia is ridiculous, she doesn't carry out the role. At least i didn't buy her performance, too overplayed.

Let me first congratulate you for this splendid beginning. It is truly inspiring to see you wearing a different cap and carrying it nicely.
Well, about the story, I went back to my memories of Darjeeling and surroundings through your dotted depictions. I enjoyed the atmosphere you created in the Forest Rest House. The use of guesthouse register is unique in its way.
A little more dramatic element, adding to the suspense and climax can really spice it up for ghost story lovers.
I am sure that you will play a long innings and will get to see some more literary side of yours.

Yes...even in karnataka...the flavors differ from region to region :) I think Udupi side is more sweetish because of more jaggery; especially their 'pepper' rasams...and it is just heavenly!

Sumana, the best is when these aromas come wafting in from the neighboring house! ;)

Cinnamon bark and coconut in sambar?? No wonder the sambar has a different flavor. Its the cinnamon bark that makes the difference I guess. I love it. The sambar served in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu differ in flavor from the Kerala one.

Good and interesting story. Nicely described.Got a very good glimpse of the hilly region of Darjeeling. It binds the reader to complete the story without break.

But some more explanation when Major meets Mr. Roy and his Family would have add some more emotions to it.
